Three bean salad is an American classic that never goes out of style. This iconic, easy-to-prepare salad combines simple ingredients to create a refreshing, colorful, and flavorful side dish. It’s perfect for picnics, barbecues, or any summertime gathering. The combination of kidney beans, green beans, and wax beans provides a variety of textures and flavors.
To make this salad, start by draining and rinsing the beans. In a large bowl, combine the beans with chopped onion and a tangy dressing made from vinegar, sugar, and oil. Add some fresh herbs, like parsley or cilantro, for an extra pop of flavor.
Let the salad marinate in the fridge for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld together. Three bean salad is great served straight from the fridge or at room temperatures. It keeps well, making it an ideal food to schlep a long distance, and/or serve at an outdoor summer gathering.
